Brass Rod Import Injury Final Determination

Brass Rods

The International Trade Commission issued its final determination that a US industry is materially injured by reason of imports of brass rod from Brazil, India, Mexico, South Africa and South Korea.

The Commerce Department previously has determined the imports are being sold in the United States at less than fair value and subsidized by the government of South Korea.

Only two manufacturers of brass rod remain in the United States: Muller (Michigan), and Wieland Chase (Ohio).

As a result of the Commission’s affirmative determinations, Commerce will issue antidumping and countervailing duty orders on imports of this product from Brazil, India, Mexico, South Africa and South Korea.

Commerce is April found dumping rates of 22.78 percent to 77.14 percent for Brazil,
3.22 percent for India, 7.45 percent to 8.04 percent for South Korea, 6.51 percent to 29.43 percent for Mexico and 10.67 percent for South Africa.

Commerce also found subsidy rates of 2.04 percent to 3.70 percent for South Korea.
