David Peters has moved from DOJ to the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security as Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement.
Peters previously served in DOJ’s Market Integrity and Major Frauds Group and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, prosecuting sanctions, export control, and fraud cases. His appointment comes as BIS expands enforcement targeting AI chips, dual-use technologies, and Chinese supply chain risk.
