May US Goods Deficit Down

The US goods trade deficit fell in May to $91.1 billion in May, down by $6 billion from the $97.1 billion recorded in April, according to an advance report released yesterday by the Commerce Department.

Exports of goods for May were $162.8 billion, which was a $1 billion decline from April. Imports of goods took a sharp decline in May at $254 billion, down by $6.9 billion from April.

Commerce will release its full report on the May trade balance on July 6.
