Gallagher Committee Goes to Wall Street

The House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party will hold a hearing on September 12th at 8:30 a.m., at Peterson Hall at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, NY.

The Committee is also expected to host a tabletop war game for Wall Street executives to illustrate a PRC invation of Taiwan.   In June the Committee excoriated the asset management community, naming BlackRock and MSCI, for their role in capitalizing Chinese innovation.

The hearing is titled "Systemic Risk: The Chinese Communist Party's Threat to U.S. Financial Stability."

The witnesses for the hearing will be:

  • The Honorable Jay Clayton, Former Chairman, Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Mr. Jim Chanos, President and Founder, Kynikos Associates.  The legendary short-seller has been bearish on the Chinese Economy for more than a decade.
  • Ms. Anne Stevenson-Yang, Founder, J Capital Research

When: Tuesday, September 12th, 8:30 a.m.

Where: Peterson Hall at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
