Assistant Secretary for Economic and Business Affairs Ramin Toloui will be leaving the Department and returning to his teaching position at Stanford University.

"Through his leadership, the Department has cultivated resilient semiconductor supply chains under the CHIPS Act, protected critical technologies like artificial intelligence by shaping outbound investment regulations, and imposed costs on Russia for its illegal invasion of Ukraine," said Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in announcing his departure.

Prior to joining Stanford, Toloui had a two-decade career spanning investment management and public service.

Most recently, he served as the Assistant Secretary for International Finance at the U.S. Treasury Department from 2014 through 2017.  Before that he was Global Co-Head of Emerging Markets Portfolio Management at PIMCO
